In Memory of Pedro by Abba Moreno

In Memory of Pedro

By: Abba Marie Moreno

Pedro was a valiant knight;

he fought his last battle well.

I can still smell the sweet summer

evening I entrusted him to you,

a gift for our first anniversary

(with a bouquet of lipstick-red roses).

Your eyes spelled out burning infatuation

and poured out cold droplets of joy.

I kissed you amidst the candlelit glow

of the planned perfection for the evening.

We were so in love.

You asked me why I gave you a teddy bear:

to keep the monsters away while you sleep.

(You thought it sweet, I was jesting.)

You blushed a little and smiled radiantly.

(Ah, I never forgot that candlelight smile of yours.)

You made an eager promise to keep

the stuffed bear by your bed each night.

                                    You were so in love.

Let’s name him: Pedro.

A man once told me

that the hardest things to let go of

were the things you never really had.

We weren’t as in too deep as we thought, Mary.

I was in love with the perfection that was us.

You were in love with an image in the mirror

that you thought that was me.

We had to end it.

But I never understood why

you had to involve Pedro with ‘us’.

I raced towards your apartment

after the phone call from your sobbing mother.

It was a dreary day drenched in October showers.

Her trembling finger pointed towards your bedroom

(I retraced my steps from the nights I spent over).

I saw your lifeless form bent crookedly on the floor

and sprawled on a pool of your once-precious blood.

You put a bag over your head and cut your throat.

The mirror read: I don’t want you to see me like this.

(All you are now is a candlelight smile.)

The room was a magnificent mess:

embellished with the torn sheets and ripped curtains

adorned with walls that bled curses in lipstick

and sprinkled with shards of colored glass and porcelain.

(I’ve always disliked your unkemptness.)

My eyes examined the room and

I saw Pedro decapitated,

bleeding of polyester

from scissors-stab-wounds

you inflicted. I guess,

he couldn’t protect himself

from the creatures underneath your bed

or save you from the monsters inside your head.

Rest in peace.

Love at 2011. [A Poem]

Love at 2011
by Abba Marie Moreno

"Single" to "in a relationship" to "engaged,"
Those facebook statuses always change.
Those archives in YM grow longer than long,
Moving and swaying to Jason Mraz' song.
The nights, they pass, they pass away,
To usher the new morning without delay.

From letters to e-mail, from e-mail to texts,
From texts to chat to means far more complex.
From "Romeo and Juliet" to the great big screen,
The stories go on, more than we've seen.
The days, they pass, they pass away,
To usher the sweet evenings without delay.

From "Hi :)" to "Hello :)," "Hello :)" to "How are you? :)"
100 more "How are you's" will then translate to "I like you."
Facebook seems to smile and Twitter bird sings too,
In celebration of these feelings new to you.
The nights and days, they pass away,
Nonetheless, love is here to stay.

Finally, made something. \m/

It Takes a Second [A Poem]

It Takes a Second

In a certain time,

In a certain town,

In a certain school,

In a certain playground,

In a certain part,

Where no grass grew,

There lay pebbles two.

They never spoke to,

In front of, each other

(Never bothered to try too)

For each had his own wonder.

His own  space,

His own resilience,

His own ways,

His own existence.

So why bother?

One day,

Where one of them lay,

A boy kicked a pebble away.

(Movement.)

The galaxy was pushed into disarray.

The other pebble watched,

As the universe unraveled,

It was the very first time,

He saw either of them traveled

(a distance).

It takes a second to realize.

“Oh what curiosity!

Oh what new bounds!

Oh what stupidity,

To think that I am sound.”

He wants to move too.

He tried.

And tried.

But he couldn’t.

It takes a second to realize.

Rational. [A Poem]

So. it's like my first poem for like months--i think a year. haha. you know, like a poem poem. :)) i guess i was too busy and all that. and frankly, the year was quite well, so i had not much to write about. :)

i wrote this because i was bored. it's been two days since the 25th [Merry Christmas!], and it has also been two days of my fever. :| i don't feel entirely well, but i guess this is better. well here it is. :)

Rational
By: Blackrose

Logic. Rationality. Sense.
Think all for the sake of convenience.
Let the facts do the talking.
Let the numbers do the walking.

Bottle up emotion.

Invest in something that won't let you fall,
And never ever risk it all.
'Cause when you do, chances are,
There's a possibility to fall apart.

That is not an option.

A hundred-percent success rate.
Zero-percent unnecessary weight.
No room for uncertainty and any blind spot.
A state of security, I constantly sought.

And then I fell in love.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah. i'm that type of person. Really. i never do anything that i can't uhh, manipulate? anything that i can't ensure a great outcome. anything that i can't ever predict.

and what if that happens. i mean. WHOAH. what the hell am i supposed to do then, huh? You can't read that out from a text book or something. or calculate or anything. Well, you could conduct experiments but i think that would be just cruel :)

Things about that subject is so uncertain. I mean, you'll never know what might happen tomorrow. Pano pag nareach ko na yung point na yun? Would i risk it all for this guy that happened to trick me into falling for him? XD

I'm not the type of person who takes risks.

Well of course the answer would be like: If you love the person, trust him.

And i would just stare blankly upon hearing that.
para sa kin, mahirap kaya. =)) sa lahat ng bagay sa mundo, ayokong nasasaktan ako. [kaya nga di ako marunong maglaslas XD ]

But I do trust God. :) and i guess, if i cant trust that person, it means that i don't trust the big guy up there.

Well for the first time ever, i'm actually risking it this time. Big time.

Ang Huling El Bimbo [translated into English by Yours Truly]

Okay, i was bored. I did not have anything to do, though i had a ton of work to do XD ... so here it is. :D

I cant resist not putting rhymes [it's cuter that way :)) ] so, bahala na kayo XD

Ang Huling El Bimbo [in English]

The Last El Bimbo

You looked like Paraluman
When we were still so young
And you were so good at dancing
May it be the boogie or the cha cha
But my favorite would be
is how you swayed to the El Bimbo
T'was amazing, entertaining,
goosebumpingly-captivating.

Just as we left school
I'd be going to your house
The afternoon spent wholly
Of you teaching me

Chorus:
Our hands held each other,
And none of us knew, none of us bothered
That you taught this heart of mine,
What it means to love truly for the first time

My body would just freeze
As the record would play
Astounded by the sway of your hips
and into your deep and beautiful eyes
Life would just seem so much brighter
When both of us held each other
And we slowly slip away
As my hand slides off your flawless arm

I should have told you long ago
'Cause even though now it's lame, this dance is the only one i know.

Chorus:
Our hands held each other,
And none of us knew, none of us bothered
That you taught this heart of mine,
What it means to love truly for the first time

A lot of years have come to pass
We never saw each other again
I heard that you already have a son
But you still have no husband
You're a dishwasher in Ermita, that's what i hear
And one night, you got into an accident in a dark alley near

All my reveries suddenly faded away
And now i dance with you in my dreams anyway

Chorus:
Our hands held each other,
And none of us knew, none of us bothered
That you taught this heart of mine,
What it means to love truly for the first time

an ode to someone who captivates me.

sigh. well this is not really an ode. it's just something that gives a click in the title :]] not that i want everyone to read this but well, i just like it that way :D

well i TOTALLY admire this guy. totally ADMIRE. nothing more. X]

the way he sings with his guitar just leaves me totally taken. he loves what he does and he enjoys it a lot. the emotion he shares is just magical. how he interacts people, how he talks and walks. his charm. his joy. well i know i'm not making any sense... but i dont have to. :]] sense is just the interpretation of the human mind of words and letters. as long as it makes sense to mine. :]]

his carefree attitude. his smile. his lyrics. his abs [oops!] his voice. his "i'll go wherever the wind takes me" attitude. we could just run away and he could sing to me forever into eternity. :]] siiiggghhhh. though finding a guy like this is totally impossible. unless you're somewhere out there... XD

Poetry is like being inLove

"Writing is like being in love..." Marjorie Evasco looked at me and said those beautiful words. I didnt know her personally or i wasnt a big fan of her works but we had one thing in common - we loved writing.

When she said those words to me, i knew how she felt. WRITING is like being in love. You create characters, stories, lives even! I felt like crying in front of her. I knew how she felt -- how good it was to write, to make people appreciate things written in paper!

BUT

Why cant i stand up for it? Why wont i do it for the rest of my life? *Has the world's nonsense standards engulfed me in its pitiful spiral of lust and death?

It's pretty sad to know. I LOVE WRITING and POETRY. but i cant stand up for it.
